The ground opens. Consigned to the darkness by a long list of self inflicted calamities, Mr Bumble struggles to rise back through the pressing layers of reality towards some kind of daylight, perhaps even a summer of sorts. He carries with him the secret of the ages, but no-one will listen. “Your message is important to us,” the aliens tell him. “Leave a message after the tone.”
